How to Manage Memberships and Packages in Listdom

If you use Listdom Membership, you manage two related but different things:

  • Packages
  • Memberships

A package is the plan you sell or offer. A membership is the real access record assigned to a user after they buy or receive a package.

Use this guide when you want to:

  • create or edit packages
  • review user memberships
  • understand package vs membership differences
  • manage package restrictions and purchase flow
  • understand what users see on the front-end memberships screen

Before managing packages and memberships, make sure:

  • Listdom is installed and active
  • Listdom Membership is installed and active
  • your payment engine is configured if you sell paid packages

You will mainly work in:

  • WP Admin → Listdom → Memberships → Packages
  • WP Admin → Listdom → Memberships
  • Front end → Dashboard → Memberships
  • Front end → Add Listing flow

A package is the plan configuration. A package defines:

  • price connection through a payment plan or product
  • listing limit
  • membership duration
  • categories allowed
  • auto confirm
  • tags, gallery, description, and other restrictions
  • Purchase URL

A membership is the user’s actual access record. A membership record shows:

  • which user owns it
  • which package it belongs to
  • status
  • expiry
  • usage
  • related listings

In short:

  • Package = the offer
  • Membership = the user’s active or past access record

Go to WP Admin → Listdom → Memberships → Packages.

This is where you create and manage package plans.

  1. Click Add New Package or open an existing package.
  2. Enter or edit package title.
  3. Go to Package Settings.

Inside Package Settings, review:

  • Payment plan / product: required field linking package to Listdom plan or WooCommerce product
  • Listing Limit: blank for unlimited, or numeric cap
  • Membership Duration: fixed day value, or blank only when intentional
  • One Time Purchase: allows buying only once per user
  • Listing Auto Confirm: auto-confirms submissions from this package
  • Listing Auto Label: auto-assigns selected labels to listings created through package
  • Available Categories: category restrictions
  • Maximum Gallery Images: gallery limit
  • Maximum Description Length: description limit
  • Maximum Number of Tags: tags limit
  • Maximum Visits: visit limits (if supported by your setup)
  • Custom Fields availability by package: Configure package access per field in Listings → Custom Fields using Related Packages. Then, in the package editor, review the Available Custom Fields info box under the Dashboard Modules area to see the final fields available in that package.

If payment plan/product is missing, package checkout cannot complete normally.

  1. Click Publish or Update.
  2. Confirm selected payment plan/product is still assigned.
  3. Re-check package settings after save.

At the bottom of package settings, Listdom provides:

  • Package ID
  • Purchase URL

Use Package ID for internal references/advanced setups.

Use Purchase URL in:

  • pricing tables
  • custom buttons
  • landing pages
  • package CTA sections

Purchase URL adds the package to cart and sends user to checkout.

Go to WP Admin → Listdom → Memberships.

This screen manages real user membership records.

Review each record for:

  • member
  • package
  • membership start time
  • expiry time
  • status
  • usage
  • related listings

This shows what user currently has, not just what package allows in theory.

Membership statuses can include:

  • Expired
  • Canceled
  • On Hold

A package can exist and remain valid as a plan while user membership is inactive.

When a user reports access problems:

  1. Open WP Admin → Listdom → Memberships.
  2. Find the membership record.
  3. Review package, status, expiry, and usage.
  4. Compare with related payment/subscription record when needed.

This is the best place to verify real user access.

Part 3: Manage packages from the frontend Dashboard

Section titled “Part 3: Manage packages from the frontend Dashboard”

Signed-in users can open Dashboard → Memberships and switch between Available Packages, Active Packages, and Expired Packages.

Available Packages presents packages the current user can review or purchase. A card can show the package name and image, price or starting price, billing label, recurring indicator, package benefits, and a Purchased badge. When a package has several checkout tiers, the active period, billing cycle, and price can be selected during checkout.

The available action depends on package and account state:

  • Purchase: Start checkout for an available package.
  • Purchase Again: Buy another eligible instance of a recurring package.
  • Select: Use a valid active membership for the next supported listing workflow.

If the package has no valid payment plan or checkout tier, Listdom reports the configuration problem instead of opening checkout.

The comparison table displays rows only when corresponding values exist. It can include price or starting price, expiration, Listing Count, Listing Auto-confirm, Maximum Gallery Images, Maximum Description Length, Maximum Number of Tags, Maximum Visits, Allowed Categories, Available Fields, and Auto-added Labels.

Available Fields can contain native Listdom modules and custom fields. The action below each package follows the same Purchase, Purchase Again, and Select rules as its card.

Listdom prepares complete comparison metadata whenever Available Packages, Active Packages, or the comparison view needs it. Moving directly between these views should preserve categories, modules, custom fields, auto-labels, capacity, expiration, auto-confirm, limits, pricing, and billing information. The Listdomer theme excludes this component from generic content-table styling so its package-specific responsive design remains intact.

If configured values appear blank, confirm the related term, field, module, or label still exists; clear page and object caches; reload the Memberships page; and update both Listdom and the Membership add-on.

Each active membership can show its package, billing information, start date, status, listing use, and expiration or renewal progress.

  • Recurring with auto-renewal active: days until renewal, renewal date, and billing frequency.
  • Recurring with auto-renewal disabled: expiration date and remaining days.
  • Non-recurring with an end date: expiration date and remaining days.
  • Non-expiring: Never expires.
  • Seven days or fewer remaining: visually treated as expiring.

Depending on the recurring state, actions can include View Order, Manage Subscription, and Activate Autorenewal. Recurring subscription actions apply to Listdom native recurring payment records; standard WooCommerce product connections are for supported one-time package checkout.

Limited packages show values such as 2 of 5 listings used; unlimited packages show Unlimited listing capacity. The membership can provide these detail tabs:

  • Listings: Total, used, and remaining capacity; connected listings; visit allowance; and Listings Auto-confirm state. Auto-confirm can bypass a separate package confirmation step but does not override every site moderation rule.
  • Fields & Categories: Categories and native or custom listing fields available to the package.
  • Auto-Labels: Labels applied automatically through the package.
  • Content Rules: Maximum gallery images, description length, and number of tags.

Connected listings are displayed within the membership. Franchise child listings follow their franchise relationship so unrelated children are not presented as package usage.

Expired Packages is a searchable membership history with Package, Expired On, Usage, and Renew Package. A renewal action appears only while the package remains available and the account is eligible to purchase it again.

When a listing workflow requires membership access, Listdom validates the membership against the current user, requested operation, allowed categories, and remaining capacity. It cannot be selected when it is expired, has reached its listing limit, disallows the listing category, or is unavailable for that operation.

After assignment, package rules can control listing capacity, available fields, categories, labels, and content limits.

For recurring memberships, connect packages to Listdom recurring payment-plan tiers. Use WooCommerce products for supported one-time package purchases only.

Part 4: Pricing tables outside the Dashboard

Section titled “Part 4: Pricing tables outside the Dashboard”

The Membership pricing-table shortcode can expose Available, Active, and Expired package sections and the comparison table outside the standard Dashboard. Its configuration controls visible sections, labels, and the initially selected tab. See Pricing Tables Shortcode for its attributes and examples.

The Memberships area distinguishes between no purchased memberships, no configured packages, no active packages, no expired packages, no expired package matching the search, and no listings connected to an active membership.

Use Packages screen to:

  • create/edit plans
  • change pricing connection
  • edit restrictions and listing limits
  • update categories
  • copy Purchase URL

Use Memberships screen to:

  • review user access
  • check expiry and status
  • inspect usage
  • verify package attached to user
  • troubleshoot access issues
  • Packages and memberships are different records.
  • A package can exist even if no user has membership from it yet.
  • Membership record reflects real user state and should be your troubleshooting source of truth.
  • Paid package checkout depends on configured payment engine/connected product.
  • Front-end memberships screen is for choosing/buying memberships, not editing package settings.

What is the difference between a package and a membership in Listdom?

Package is the plan configuration. Membership is the actual user access record created from that package.

Where should I edit listing limits and package restrictions?

Edit them in WP Admin → Listdom → Memberships → Packages inside Package Settings.

Where should I check what access a user actually has?

Check WP Admin → Listdom → Memberships. It shows real membership status, expiry, and usage.
