Listdom Directory Health and Launch Checklist Documentation
Listdom includes a Directory Health and Launch Checklist that helps administrators find incomplete directory settings before launch and review the health of an existing directory later.
Go to Listdom > Help to open the Directory Health & Launch Checklist.
The number beside Help shows how many warning and incomplete checklist items currently need attention. This number can also contribute to the notification count displayed beside the main Listdom menu. It updates when relevant Listdom content, settings, terms, or add-ons change. Open the checklist and select Refresh health check when you want to run the checks immediately.
What the health score means
Section titled “What the health score means”The health score is calculated from the checklist items that apply to the site. Checks have different weights based on their importance:
- High-priority checks have the greatest effect on the score.
- Medium-priority checks have a moderate effect.
- Low-priority checks have the smallest effect.
- Complete checks receive full credit.
- Warning checks receive partial credit.
- Incomplete checks receive no credit.
- Optional checks that are skipped are excluded from the calculation.
The score is shown from 0 to 100 with one of these labels:
- Healthy: 80 or higher
- Needs Attention: 60 to 79
- Needs Work: below 60
The summary also shows the number of Complete, Warning, Incomplete, Optional, and Skipped checks.
Refreshing the health check
Section titled “Refreshing the health check”Select Refresh health check after changing settings, creating pages, installing or deactivating an add-on, or adding directory content. Listdom checks the current site configuration again and updates the score and statuses.
The Priority Fixes area focuses on the highest-impact warning and incomplete items. When Listdom can identify the relevant administration screen, the item provides an action that takes you to that screen.
Use Open Setup Wizard when the basic directory setup is incomplete or you want to revisit the guided setup.
Checklist categories
Section titled “Checklist categories”Core Directory Setup
Section titled “Core Directory Setup”This category checks the essential directory structure, including:
- Published listings
- Categories
- Important listing taxonomies
- Directory pages and shortcodes
- The single-listing layout
- AI profiles, when applicable
Submission and User Flow
Section titled “Submission and User Flow”This category checks the path visitors and listing owners use to join and contribute to the directory, including:
- The frontend dashboard page
- Required authentication pages
- Frontend Listing Form settings
- Notification email configuration
Some submission checks are optional. A directory that does not allow public or frontend submissions can skip those checks without lowering its health score.
Search and Discovery
Section titled “Search and Discovery”This category checks whether visitors can find relevant listings, including:
- Search forms
- AJAX search configuration
- AI search mode, when applicable
- Map settings
Monetization
Section titled “Monetization”This category checks paid-directory configuration when monetization is part of the site, including:
- Pricing and packages
- Listdom payment settings
- Claim settings
- Visibility upgrade options
Some monetization checks are optional. Skip them if the directory does not sell packages, claims, visibility upgrades, or other paid services.
Trust and Engagement
Section titled “Trust and Engagement”This category checks features that help users evaluate listings and contact owners, including:
- Reviews
- Claiming and verified status
- Report Abuse
- Contact and lead options
SEO and AI Visibility
Section titled “SEO and AI Visibility”This category checks machine-readable directory data and basic discovery settings, including:
- Structured data
- Category schema types
- The public AI-readable feed
- Public feed fields
- The site tagline
Optional checks
Section titled “Optional checks”An optional check can be skipped when the feature is not part of the directory. Select Skip to exclude the check from the score. Select Unskip if the feature becomes relevant later.
Skipping an item does not enable or disable the underlying feature. It only changes how the checklist evaluates the site.
Recommended launch workflow
Section titled “Recommended launch workflow”- Open Listdom > Help.
- Review Priority Fixes and resolve incomplete high-priority checks first.
- Review warning items and confirm whether their current state is intentional.
- Skip optional checks that do not apply to the directory.
- Select Refresh health check.
- Test the directory as a logged-out visitor.
- Test the frontend dashboard and submission flow as a listing owner when those features are enabled.
- Revisit the checklist whenever major settings, add-ons, payment methods, search forms, or templates change.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”The Help badge does not disappear
Section titled “The Help badge does not disappear”Open Listdom > Help and check the remaining Warning and Incomplete items. Complete or skip applicable items, then select Refresh health check. The badge counts warning and incomplete checks, not the overall percentage.
A completed item still appears incomplete
Section titled “A completed item still appears incomplete”Confirm that the required page, shortcode, setting, taxonomy, add-on, or published content still exists. Select Refresh health check after saving the related screen. Cached pages do not change the checklist result, but an unsaved setting or draft item may not satisfy the check.
A feature is intentionally unused
Section titled “A feature is intentionally unused”Use Skip when the check is marked optional. Required checks cannot be skipped because they represent the basic directory structure.
The score changed after an add-on was activated
Section titled “The score changed after an add-on was activated”Active add-ons can register additional relevant checks. Configure the new feature, or skip its optional checks if the add-on is active but the feature is not used on this directory.
Does the checklist change my settings automatically?
Section titled “Does the checklist change my settings automatically?”No. It evaluates the current configuration and links to relevant screens. The Setup Wizard and individual administration screens are used to make changes.
Does skipping a check disable the feature?
Section titled “Does skipping a check disable the feature?”No. Skip only removes an optional item from the score.
Why is the score not a simple percentage of completed items?
Section titled “Why is the score not a simple percentage of completed items?”Checks have different priorities and weights. Warning items receive partial credit, and skipped optional items are excluded.
Can I use the checklist after launch?
Section titled “Can I use the checklist after launch?”Yes. Use it after updates, add-on changes, template changes, or major directory configuration work.
