To use this skin, navigate to Listdom → Shortcodes → Add Shortcode and select the List skin from the available skin options. Once selected, you can configure various settings for how your listings will appear in the list layout. The List skin is ideal for directory listings or any scenario where you want each listing to appear as a full-width entry.
Under the Style tab, you can choose a style variation for the List skin and customize which elements are shown on each listing card. Begin by selecting a Style (pre-designed layout) for the list. By default, Style 1 is selected, but you may choose Style 2, Style 3, or Style 4 for different appearances.
Display Image: Toggle to show or hide the listing’s featured image (or gallery slider) on each listing card. This option is part of the Listdom Pro features Pro. When enabled, additional image settings appear:
Image Method: Choose how images are displayed. Cover shows only the featured image as a static cover image, while Slider displays all gallery images in a slider/carousel on the listing card.
Image Fit: Select how the image fills its container. Cover (default) will crop/zoom to fill the area, and Contain will letterbox the image to show the whole image without cropping.
Note: If Display Image is turned off, no listing images will appear in the list view.
Display Description: Toggle to include a short description or excerpt for each listing. If enabled, you can set:
Content Length: The number of words to show from the description/excerpt. For example, setting 12 (default) will display up to 12 words of the listing’s content.
Content Type: Choose whether to use the listing’s Description (full content) or Excerpt for the summary text. By default, the skin uses the excerpt.
Styles: The description content is available in style layouts that support showing text excerpts (e.g., Style 2 and Style 3 for the List skin). In styles where no description area exists, this toggle may be hidden and descriptions will not be shown.
These toggles let you show or hide additional listing details. Availability of each element may depend on the selected style or enabled add-ons:
Contact Info: Show contact information (such as the contact button or quick contact details) on the listing card. (Visible in Style 1 and Style 4 layouts.)
Location: Display the location name of the listing. (Visible in Style 2 layouts.)
Price Class: Show the price category or price class (e.g., “$$$” or budget classification) if your site uses price classes. (Requires that pricing components are enabled and is shown in Style 3.)
Price: Display the listing’s price or price field on the card (for example, an amount or price label). This option appears if pricing is enabled in Listdom. (Shown in Style 1, Style 2, and Style 4.)
Share Buttons: Include social Share buttons (e.g., Facebook, Twitter icons) on each listing for easy sharing. (Requires that social sharing components are enabled; available in Style 1, Style 2, and Style 4.)
Address: Show the listing’s address on the card. (Requires the Map component; visible in Style 1 and Style 3 layouts where an address is part of the design.)
Work Hours: Display the listing’s availability or work hours (open/closed status or hours of operation). (Requires the working hours feature to be enabled; visible in Style 2 and Style 3.)
Categories: Show the category (or categories) assigned to the listing. (Visible in Style 2, Style 3, and Style 4.)
Labels: Show any Labels associated with the listing (for example, custom labels or statuses like “Featured” or “Open Now”). This is enabled by default and applies to all styles.
Favorite Icon: Show a “favorite” (heart) icon on each listing, allowing users to add the listing to their favorites. (This requires the Listdom Favorite add-on to be installed and activated. Favorite)
Compare Icon: Show a “compare” (scale) icon on each listing, allowing users to add the listing to a comparison list. (Requires the Listdom Compare add-on. Compare)
Review Stars: Display the listing’s average rating as star icons (if your site has reviews for listings). (Requires the Listdom Reviews add-on for review functionality. Reviews)
Title: Toggle the listing title on or off. By default, the Title is always displayed (enabled). It’s generally recommended to leave this on so users can see each listing’s name.
Claim Status: If the Claim/Claimable Listings add-on is used, this toggle will show a “claimed” badge or status on listings that have been claimed by their owners. (Requires the Listdom Claim add-on. Claim) This option only appears when Title is enabled, and only for styles that support the claim badge (e.g., Style 3 and Style 4).
If you want to include a map with your list of listings, the Map tab provides various settings for map display and behavior. (These options require that the Map component is enabled – Listdom supports maps via Leaflet or Google Maps.)
Map Provider: Choose the map platform (Leaflet or Google Maps) for displaying the map. By default, this inherits from global settings. (This field may be locked if configured globally; Leaflet is the default provider in Listdom.)
Position: Decide where the map is displayed relative to the list. Options:
Show before the List view (Top) – Map appears above the list.
Show after the List view (Bottom) – Map appears below the list.
Show on left – Map is shown to the left side of the listings (the list will appear on the right side).
Show on right – Map is shown to the right side of the listings.
Map Style: (Google Maps only) If using Google Maps, select a map style (the visual theme of the map). This can be left blank to use the default style or choose a custom style if available.
Map Height: Set a custom height for the map display. You can specify a value in pixels (e.g., 500px) or in viewport height (e.g., 100vh). If left blank, a default height will be used. Adjust this if you need a taller or shorter map on the page.
If multiple listings are close to each other on the map, you can use clustering to combine them into a single marker that shows a count.
Enable Clustering: Toggle to enable cluster grouping of nearby markers. When enabled, listings in proximity will be shown as a cluster (usually a circle with a number).
Bubbles: Choose the style of cluster “bubbles” (the marker icons that represent clusters). Listdom provides several cluster icon styles (sizes and colors) – select one from the dropdown. This option is available when clustering is enabled. (If using Google Maps as the provider, cluster images will appear as selected. Leaflet uses its default clustering style.)
Map Search: Enable this to allow the map view to filter listings based on the map’s current viewport. When Map Search is on, as users move or zoom the map, the list of listings will update to show only listings visible in the current map area. (This is a Pro feature and requires Listdom Pro. If you are using the free version, this option will be shown as unavailable.)
When Map Search is enabled, users can find listings in the visible map bounds, which is useful for geo-directory scenarios.
Map Limit: Specify the maximum number of listing markers to load on the map. The default is 300. Be cautious when increasing this number: a very high limit can slow down page loading and map performance. It’s recommended to use filter options to narrow down listings rather than loading too many at once. If you only want to display a specific set of listings, you can lower this number for performance.
(Advanced users: Listdom’s Map settings also support KML layers and other custom behaviors via extensions, which can be added by third-party plugins hooking into Listdom.)
In the Layout tab, configure how the listing results are paginated and displayed on the page.
Listings Per Row: (Not applicable for List skin) Since the List skin displays one listing per row by design, this setting is fixed to 1. (For grid-based skins, you can choose multiple columns, but List skin is always single-column.)
Limit: Set how many listings to show per page. The default is 12. If you have more listings than this limit, the additional listings will be accessible via pagination or “Load More” (depending on the Pagination Method setting).
Pagination Method: Choose how users can navigate through multiple pages of listings:
Load More – Users click a Load More button to append the next set of listings below the current list (infinite scrolling style).
Numeric Pagination – Traditional pages (1, 2, 3, …) for the listings.
Disabled – No pagination controls. If you select this, only the first page of results (up to the Limit) will be shown and users cannot load more.
By default, Listdom uses Load More for the List skin, but you can select your preferred method.
Listing Link: Define how the single listing page opens when a listing is clicked. (This is a Pro feature; in Listdom Lite, this setting is not available.) Options include:
Normal – Clicking a listing opens the single listing in the current window (default behavior).
Lightbox – Open the single listing page in a lightbox overlay on the same page.
Right Panel / Left Panel / Bottom Panel – Open the single listing in a side panel (or bottom drawer) on the page.
If a panel or lightbox method is chosen, an additional option Listing Style in Lightbox will appear, allowing you to select which single listing layout/style to use in the popup. If no specific style is chosen, it will inherit the global single listing style.
Under Default Sort, choose how listings are initially ordered when they are displayed:
Default Sort Field: Select the default sorting criterion (e.g., Date Posted, Title, Price, Rating, etc.). For example, you might choose Date to sort listings by newest first, or Price to sort by price.
Default Sort Order: Select Ascending or Descending for the default field. For instance, if the field is Date and order is Descending, listings will start with the most recent.
By setting a default sort, you control the initial listing order before the user applies any manual sorting.
You can enable or disable the sorting dropdown/list that appears above the listings and configure which sorting options are available to users:
Display Sort Options: Toggle this on to show the sort controls to visitors (a dropdown or list of sort criteria). If turned off, users will not see any sort menu and cannot change the sort order (the listings will remain in the Default Sort order).
Sort Style: Choose how the sort interface is displayed to users:
Drop Down – A compact dropdown menu (visitors click and select a sort option).
List – A list of sorting choices (usually as buttons or links) visible by default.
Available Sort Options: Configure which sorting criteria users can choose from, and in what order:
Common sort options include Date, Title, Price, Views, Rating, etc. All available options are listed.
You can reorder the options by dragging them in the list – the order here will be the order they appear to users.
Click the toggle icon next to each sort option to enable or disable it. Enabled options (with a checkmark icon) will be offered to users; disabled ones will be hidden.
For each sort criterion, you can also customize the label (Name) that appears to users and set its default order (Ascending or Descending). For example, you might label a sort by a custom field as “Sort by Size” and choose a default order.
If you have the Display Sort Options turned on, make sure to enable at least one sort criterion in the list. If all options are disabled, the sort control will not show any choices to the user.
The Search tab controls whether this listing shortcode can be filtered by a search form and where that form appears.
Searchable: Toggle this option to make the shortcode’s listings searchable/filterable. If enabled, the shortcode will listen to Listdom search forms and filter results accordingly. If disabled, the shortcode will always show a fixed set of listings (not affected by search queries or filters).
When Searchable is turned off (set to “Non-searchable”), a note appears: “Non-searchable shortcodes display fixed results that do not change based on search queries.” In this mode, the listings shown by this shortcode will not respond to any search form input.
When Searchable is on, you can choose a specific search form to display.
Search Form: Select which Listdom Search Form (created via Listdom’s search builder) to display with this listing. By default, this is empty (no search form). If you have created a search form (for example, with fields for keyword, category, location, etc.), choose it here to embed it alongside the list. The selected search form will appear on the frontend, allowing users to refine the results.
Search Form Position: Determine where the search form appears in relation to the listings:
Show on top – The search form will appear above the list of listings.
Show on bottom – The search form will appear below the list.
Show on left – The search form will float to the left side of the listings.
Show on right – The search form will float to the right side of the listings.
Show before the listings – (Similar to “top”, ensures the form is directly before the listing list in HTML structure.)
Note: If you choose left or right, ensure your page layout has enough width; the search form will occupy a sidebar area next to the listing list.
The search form you include will interact with this shortcode. Users filling out the form and submitting it will filter the listings shown by this List shortcode according to the search form’s fields (e.g., by keywords, selected category, location, etc.).
You do not need to include a search form if you prefer to show a static list of listings or if you plan to place a search form elsewhere on the page.
Filter Options allow you to predefine which listings should appear (or be excluded) by specific criteria. This is useful if you want a shortcode to show only certain listings (e.g., only a specific category or only listings by a certain author), regardless of user search input. In the Filter Options tab, you can include or exclude listings by various attributes.
The filter settings are organized into sub-tabs for each attribute type:
Categories, Locations, Tags, Features, Labels, Custom Fields, Authors. Each has two sub-sections: Include and Exclude.
For each attribute, you can choose specific terms or values to Include (meaning show only those listings that match) or Exclude (meaning omit those listings that match).
Categories: Select which categories of listings to include or exclude.
In Include → Categories: pick one or multiple categories. The shortcode will then show listings only from those categories. If you leave it blank, listings from all categories are included.
In Exclude → Categories: pick categories to exclude. Listings in those categories will not be shown. (Exclusion is a Pro feature; see note below.)
Locations: Similarly, choose which Locations (if you use location taxonomy for listings) to include or exclude.
Include specific locations to show only listings in those locations.
Exclude specific locations to hide listings in those locations.
Tags: Filter by listing tags. You can include listings that have certain tags or exclude listings with certain tags.
Features: If your listings have Features (a taxonomy for special features or amenities), you can include only listings with specific features or exclude those with certain features.
Labels: Filter by Labels (Labels might represent listing statuses or custom flags). Include or exclude listings with particular labels.
Custom Fields: If you have custom fields (attributes) defined for listings (e.g., a custom dropdown or text field), you can set filters for those as well. All custom attributes will be listed under this section:
For each custom field, you might be able to choose specific values to include or exclude. (The interface will depend on the field type. For example, a checkbox or select field will list its possible values.)
Use these to only show listings that have certain custom field values, or exclude those that do.
Authors: Filter by the listing author (the user who added the listing).
Under Include → Authors: use the autosuggest field to search and select one or more author usernames. Only listings posted by those authors will show.
Under Exclude → Authors: select authors whose listings should be omitted from this shortcode’s results.
You can choose multiple authors in each case. If left blank, all authors’ listings are allowed by default.
For Exclude filters (Categories, Locations, Tags, Features, Labels, Authors, etc.), the option to pick values is available only in Listdom Pro. In the free version, you will see a notice that exclusion filtering is a Pro feature.
By combining these filters, you can configure the shortcode to show exactly the subset of listings you need. For instance, you could include a Category and a Location to show “Listings in Category X and Location Y only.” Or exclude certain tags or authors to omit those from a general listing directory.
Local Business Directory (List Skin): A city directory site uses the List skin to list local businesses. Each business appears in a full-width row with its name, address, and a “Contact” button. The admin has enabled the map on top, so visitors can see all business locations on a map above the list. This setup makes it easy to browse businesses in a traditional list while also visualizing their locations.
Job Listings in List Format: A job board website displays its job postings using the List skin. The list shows each job title, company name, and a short excerpt of the job description. The site owner has added a search form at the top (Searchable enabled) so users can filter jobs by keyword or category. They chose numeric pagination for navigation. This provides a straightforward, text-focused list of jobs that’s easy to scroll and search.
