Shortcodes in Listdom allow you to define how listings are displayed on your site. Each shortcode is a saved set of display settings, layout options, and filters that you can insert into pages via a [listdom id="<ID>"] code. The Shortcodes menu lets you manage all shortcode configurations in one place, making it easy to reuse listing layouts across your site.

All Shortcodes Overview

The Shortcodes page shows a table of all defined shortcodes. For each shortcode entry, you will see:

Title: The name of the shortcode (for your reference).
Shortcode: The actual code snippet to insert in pages, e.g. [listdom id="123"]. You can click the Copy button to copy this shortcode.
Skin: The display skin chosen for that shortcode (e.g. Grid View, List View, etc.).
Date: The date the shortcode was created or last modified.

At the top of the table, a Skin filter dropdown allows you to show shortcodes of a specific skin type. Each shortcode row has actions that appear when you hover over it:

Edit: Open the shortcode settings to modify it.
Duplicate: Create a copy of the shortcode (as a new draft) to quickly start with the same settings.
Trash: Delete the shortcode if it’s no longer needed.

Adding or Editing a Shortcode

To create a new shortcode, click Add Shortcode. To edit an existing one, click its Edit action. This opens the shortcode editor where you can configure how your listings should appear.

Start by entering a Title for your shortcode at the top (e.g., “Homepage Grid of Cars”). The main configuration is split into sections with tabs. Below is a breakdown of each tab.

Skin

Under the Skin tab, choose the overall layout for displaying listings. You will see a gallery of skin options with preview images. Click one to select it. Skins include:

List View: A vertical list of listings.
Grid View: A grid layout with multiple columns.
List + Grid View: A hybrid layout allowing users to toggle between views.
Half Map / Split View: Listings on one side and a map on the other.
Single Map: A full map view with listings plotted as markers.
Table View: Listings in a tabular format.
Masonry View: A Pinterest-style masonry grid.
Carousel: A carousel slider of listings.
Slider: A single listing slider.
Cover View: A large featured listing style.
Side by Side View: Listings with image and details side-by-side.
Accordion View: Listings shown as collapsible accordion panels.
Mosaic View: Listings in a mosaic/tiled layout.

Style

The Style tab lets you refine the appearance and elements shown for the selected skin.

Select the Style: Choose a style variation for the selected skin if available (e.g., Style 1, Style 2). By default, the first style is applied. If you created a custom Listing Card style in Listdom -> Elementor Styles, Listdom -> Divi Templates, or Listdom -> Bricks Builder, select that saved style here in the shortcode’s Style tab.

Listing Elements Display: Toggle various listing elements on or off for the listing cards.

Title: Show the listing title. (Default: Enabled)
Claim Status: Show an indicator if a listing is claimed or verified. (Default: Enabled) In supported skins/styles, this appears as a verified badge, and the Verified text is shown in the badge tooltip on hover.
Listing Labels: Show any labels/badges assigned to the listing. (Default: Disabled)
Image: Display the featured image of the listing. (Default: Enabled)
Contact Info: Display contact icons (phone, email). (Default: Enabled)
Location: Show the listing’s location name. (Default: Enabled)
Address: Show the listing’s physical address text. (Default: Enabled if Map component is on)
Price Class: Show the listing’s price category (e.g., $, $$, $$$). (Default: Enabled)
Price: Show the listing’s price or price range. (Default: Enabled)
Categories: Show the listing’s category tags. (Default: Enabled)
Availability: Show the listing’s open/closed status. (Default: Enabled if Working Hours component is on)
Description: Show a short description excerpt. (Default: Enabled)
Description Length: Limit the excerpt length in words. (Default: 12)
Content Type: Choose to display an Excerpt or Full Content. (Default: Excerpt)
Read More Button: Show a “Read More” button linking to the full listing page. (Default: Enabled)
Favorite Icon: Show the “Add to Favorites” heart icon. (Default: Enabled)
Compare Icon: Show the “Compare” scale icon. (Default: Enabled)
Share Buttons: Display social share buttons on each listing. (Default: Disabled)
Review Stars: Display the listing’s average rating as star icons. (Default: Enabled)
Slider Arrows: Show navigation arrows on Carousel/Slider skins. (Default: Enabled for applicable skins)
Display Matched Bookables: When the Listdom Booking add-on Booking is active, show a snippet of available bookable items on the listing card. This element appears on skins that support booking cards: List, Grid, List + Grid, Half Map, and Masonry. The cards appear after a targeted booking search finds available items and can show the matched item, selected period, capacity, calculated price, and a Book this option action. That action opens the single-listing booking form with the valid search values restored. See Booking availability search and matched bookable items.

Map

If your chosen skin supports maps, use the Map tab to configure them.

Map Options

Map Provider: Choose between Leaflet (OpenStreetMap) or Google Maps. (Default: Leaflet)
Map Style: Select the style of the map tiles (e.g., roadmap vs. satellite).
Clustering: Toggle whether nearby listings are grouped into cluster markers. (Default: Enabled)
Google Maps cluster display: Listdom uses all five size-specific images in the selected cluster set as grouped listing counts increase, keeping the icon and clickable area aligned. The count uses the configured cluster text color, or white when no color is supplied. If icons are broken or counts are unreadable, clear optimized JavaScript/CDN caches, confirm Listdom assets are accessible, and check CSS or URL rewriting from security and optimization plugins.
Listings on Map Limit: Set a limit on how many markers to show on the map for performance.
Map Position Relative to Listings: Choose where the map appears (e.g., Left, Right, Top).

Map Controls

Toggle various interactive controls on or off to customize the map interface.

Zoom Control: Displays +/- zoom buttons. (Default: Enabled)
Map Type Control: Allows users to switch map types (map vs. satellite). (Default: Enabled)
Street View Control: Shows the Pegman icon for Google Street View. (Default: Enabled for Google Maps)
Draw Controls: Enables tools for users to draw a shape on the map to filter listings. (Default: Enabled)
GPS Control: Shows or hides the GPS location button in map controls (Google Maps controls). When shown, users can use it to locate themselves on the map. (Default: Enabled)
Scale Control: Shows a scale bar indicating distance. (Default: Disabled)
Camera Control: Provides a combined control for panning and zooming. (Default: Enabled)
Fullscreen Control: Adds a button to toggle the map to full-screen mode. (Default: Enabled on mobile)

Layout

Use the Layout tab to adjust limits, columns, and pagination.

Listings Limit: Set the maximum number of listings to display per page. (Default: 10)
Number of Columns: For grid skins, choose the number of columns. (Default: 3 on desktop)
Pagination Style: Choose how users load more listings.
- Load More button: Loads the next set of listings via AJAX.
- Infinite Scroll: Listings load automatically as the user scrolls.
- Numeric Pagination: Traditional page numbers.
- Disabled: No pagination. (Default: Load More button)
Listing Link: Choose what happens when a visitor clicks a listing card. The available choices can include Same Window, New Window, Show on the map, Open in Lightbox, Right Panel, Left Panel, Bottom Panel, and Disabled.
- Show on the map opens the listing’s map infowindow instead of navigating to the single listing page. Use it when the shortcode includes a map and you want card clicks to focus the related marker details.
- Show on the map is hidden when the map is disabled or when the selected skin does not support a map.
- Open in Lightbox and panel options depend on the single-listing overlay behavior available in your setup.

Sort

The Sort tab allows you to define how listings are ordered by default, and which sorting options (if any) are offered to users on the frontend:

Default Sort

Under Default Sort, set the initial ordering of listings when this shortcode is used. Core Listdom sorting includes List Date, Listing Title, Last Update, Comments, Listing ID, Author, Random, Price, and Most Viewed. You can also sort by custom fields created under Listings → Custom Fields (all types except Image and File). For setup steps, see Add Custom Fields to Listings.

Order By: Select the field to sort by initially. Core options include List Date, Listing Title, Last Update, Comments, Listing ID, Author, Random, Price, and Most Viewed.

Add-on sort options can appear when enabled:
- Claimed Claim
- Rate and Most Reviewed Reviews
- Rank Rank
- Top Up Date Top Up
- Booking Price, Capacity, and Start Date Booking
Order: Choose the direction of the sort – Descending or Ascending. For example, if you choose List Date and Descending, the newest listings will show first. If you choose Title and Ascending, listings will be sorted A–Z.

Set these to define the shortcode’s initial sequence. Sorting by date is common, but you have full control.

Categories and Locations sorting

The Sort options can include Categories and Locations. These options sort listings by their assigned taxonomy terms. Listdom uses the configured term order first and the term name as a secondary value. Listings without a matching term are placed after listings with term data.

Ascending and descending direction can be used where the sort control provides it.

Distance sorting

Select Distance to sort listings by straight-line geographic distance from a reference point.

Listdom resolves the reference point in this order:

The visitor’s available GPS location.
Coordinates resolved from an entered address or map search.
The site’s default map location.
The shortcode’s configured default sort when no usable reference coordinates exist.

Listings must have valid saved latitude and longitude values to participate accurately. Listings with missing or invalid coordinates are placed after listings with valid coordinates.

Distance uses a great-circle calculation between coordinates. It is not driving, walking, cycling, or route distance. Distance ascending shows the nearest listings first, while Distance descending shows the farthest listings first.

If address-based distance sorting does not respond immediately, confirm that the address was successfully geocoded and that the site’s map provider is configured.

Booking filter and sort options

When the Booking add-on Booking is active, compatible shortcodes can provide filters for availability, date range, capacity, and price. Supported sort options can include Booking Price, Capacity, and Start Date.

Enable Display Matched Bookables to show the specific bookable items that match the current booking criteria on supported skins.

Sort Options

In Sort Options, you configure what sort controls, if any, the user sees on the front end and how they behave:

Display Sort Options: Toggle ON to show a sort dropdown or list to users on the front end. If OFF, no sort interface is shown to the user (the listings will simply stay in the default order you set). By default, this is enabled, allowing users to change sort order if needed.
Sort Style: Choose how the sort interface looks for the user:
- Default Style: Use the global default style (often a dropdown) for the sort control.
- Drop Down: Explicitly use a dropdown menu for sort choices.
- List: Show sort options as a horizontal list of clickable links/buttons.
Available Sort Criteria: You’ll see a list of all possible sort fields (the same as under Order By). For each criterion in this list, you can:
- Enable or disable it (via a checkbox or toggle). Disabled ones won’t show up to the user.
- Rename it by editing its label (for example, you might rename “List Date” to “Newest”).
- Set its default order direction (ascending or descending) for when a user selects that sort option.
- Reorder the sort criteria by dragging them into the desired sequence. The order here determines the order in the dropdown or list shown to users.

For instance, you might only enable a few relevant sorts like Date and Price, and disable others like ID or Author if they don’t make sense to your users. You can also ensure the sort options are listed in a logical order (perhaps “Newest”, “Oldest”, “Price (Low-High)”, “Price (High-Low)” etc., depending on your choices).

Search

The Search tab lets you attach a search form to the shortcode, allowing users to filter listings in real-time.

Searchable: A toggle to enable or disable the search bar for this shortcode. (Default: On)
Search Form: If searchable, choose a pre-made search form from the dropdown. You must create search forms separately under the Search and Filter Builder menu.
Search Form Position: Choose where the search form will appear (e.g., Top, Bottom, Left, Right). (Default: Top)
Sticky Search Form: Keep left or right sidebar search forms visible while scrolling. When the form is taller than the viewport, Listdom automatically adds a vertical scrollbar to keep all fields reachable.
Sticky Offset (px): Set the top spacing for sticky sidebar forms so they do not hide behind fixed headers. Leave it empty to use the default spacing.
AJAX Search (Live Search): Enable this to update search results without a page reload.

The Filter Options tab lets you pre-define which listings should be shown by this shortcode, acting as fixed conditions.

Categories to Include/Exclude: Select categories to show or hide.
Locations to Include/Exclude: Filter by specific location terms.
Labels to Include/Exclude: Filter by listing labels (e.g., show only “Featured” listings).
Tags to Include/Exclude: Filter by listing tags.
Features to Include/Exclude: Filter by specific amenities or attributes.
Author(s) to Include/Exclude: Show or hide listings from specific authors/vendors.
Custom Fields/Attributes Filter: Set conditions on custom fields (e.g., “Price > 100”).
Membership Packages: Filter listings by selected package(s) using checkboxes. This option is available with Listdom Membership and helps you show listings from specific package tiers (for example, only Free or only Pro package listings).
